Towels

No home is complete without the right set of towels. This is more than simply walking down an aisle and picking just any old hand towels or bathrobes off the shelves. Instead, it means really thinking about how to find the best quality towels for your home. Soft, organic, and attractive mats, hand towels, and robes speak volumes about you. The following are some reasons to buy only the best bath items.

Whenever a person looks down at your monogram bamboo towels, they will think of you, your home, and their stay here. This ensures that the best first impression is made and that people will leave your home impressed. And of course, this sort of makes a person feel as though he or she belongs to your family and that they are welcome.

A guest is only as happy as how you make them feel: every little detail counts. This is why you should only buy the most luxurious and eye pleasing towels around. You can take great pride whenever you see loved ones walking around in a waffle bathrobe with your family’s initials embroidered on the cotton.

Comfort is everything when you shower, wash your hands, or get ready for a night on the town. If you wear a soft robe made of the best Egyptian fabric or bamboo cotton, you will no doubt feel more pampered, relaxed, and happy. Thus, such a simple decision as which robe or towel to buy can really have some great effects. This is a chance to feel as though you are wiping your body with a cloud after a long hot shower. The little things mean a lot when it comes to your happiness. This is why you should buy the best towels money can buy.

Be smart about this decision so that you can really make guests, family members, and friends feel at home when they come to visit. Such decisions ensure that people feel comfortable, have a nice time, and get what they need. Being a good host means considering all options when filling your house full of towels of all shapes and sizes. Choose only the best and you and your loved ones will no doubt feel pampered every single moment they use such a bath towel or accessory.

I have always been fascinated by colors and am totally in my element whenever I’m in a paint or crafts shop where hundreds of hues are displayed for my enjoyment. It wasn’t, however, until I started shopping for luxury towels and bathrobes that I realized I could provide a fix for my color addiction in my very own bathroom.

Quality bath towels and hand towels were on top of my list of must-buys, and I was simply stunned at the number of colors that towels are available in today. Egyptian cotton towels, for instance, come in no less than eight different colors ranging from the fairly predictable white and cream to the excitingly new espresso, meadow, rosebud and air blue. Supima towels, on the other hand, which are made of American Superior Pima cotton, come in such intriguing shades as bisque, merlot and tarragon while organic towels – 100% eco friendly – come in, among other colors, green tea, Aegean blue, coffee and stone. Bath mats were next on the list, and, when I looked at the luxurious Bamboo bath mats, I had a hard time choosing between the mat in adorable aloe, the tubmat in calming cloud and the bath mat in soft sandstone.

The world of bath robes also opened up a world of colors for me, and I was totally in my element exploring the different robe brands and their cleverly creative colors. The Terry kimono robes, for instance, came in sparkling white while the Waffle bathrobe was available in a beautiful shade of beige. The Ultra Soft cotton / bamboo bathrobes, on the other hand, dazzle the eye in coffee and the interesting shade of light blue that’s known as rain, and kids robes – possibly the most fun of them all – are pretty in pink and wonderful in white.

The fact that most of these Turkish bathrobes/towels and pure cotton bath mats are machine washable, of excellent quality and can even sport a monogram will – strangely – always be less important to me than the fact that they come in such gorgeous colors.

The unexpected increase in the silk yarn prices has decreased the purchasing power of weavers. Some of the looms have been closing down, leaving contract weavers and jobless employees behind. In the State of Assam which is the northern state of India, master weavers are agreed that under these conditions it’s hard to maintain and continue doing heritage business.

In January 2010, one kilogram of silk yarn was $32.42 but when in the months of July and August the prices jumped up to $56.67, which is almost 75% in 8 months. It is also expected to increase more.

The Japanese kimono can be used as a comfortable, much more fashionable alternative to the bathrobe. Dating back to the fifth century AD, both Japanese men and women have been wearing kimonos since a similar style of dress was important from Han-era China.

In Japan, the kimono was always far more than something comfortable to wear around the house. western-style clothing didn’t make it to Japan until the early 20th century. In 1923, Japan’s emperor issued an edict requiring almost all public officials to change their style of dress from kimonos to western-style uniforms. Until that time, the kimono was one of the basic items of clothing for both women and men.

The east-west interchange of clothing styles goes both ways. Since the early 20th century, westerners have collected kimonos as souvenirs or as elegant, unique ways to dress. Although traditional kimonos remain expensive and elegant in the west, some people like to use the kimono as a loose-fitting housecoat to relax around the home.

Japanese-Americans still keep kimonos on-hand for special occasions. During the traditional Coming of Age Day, for example, a kimono is still a common item, as it is for weddings. A kimono jacket can be found for under $100; truly elegant silk kimonos can exceed $500.

Tanzania which is the fifth cotton producer in Africa, is going to produce genetically-modified cotton or BT cotton. Government and private sector will work co-operatively on credit extensions.

In Tanzania this season the total production is estimated 90.000 tons, by 2014-15 with the help of BT cotton, the total production will be 260.00 tons which triples the overall cotton output.

GM cotton has become widespread in 2007 by covering 15 million hectares or 43% in the whole worlds production area. Mostly BT cotton grows in India and the US, but it can also be found in China, South Africa, Australia, and South America as well. The BT cotton has a substance called BT toxin which protects cotton against herbicides or insecticides.

Lisa Simpson, of the animated, long-running series, The Simpsons, once observes about her mother: “Her heart won’t just wipe clean like this bathroom countertop: it absorbs everything that touches it, like this bathroom rug.” The bathroom rug in question is revealed to be more a science experiment than a rug, with various items growing out of it.

Hopefully your bathroom rugs and bath mats don’t look like the ones in The Simpsons. If they do, here’s a suggestion: wash it.

Why Bath Mats and Rugs Get So Dirty

Our bath mats get dirty for two main reasons. The first problem is the environment in which our mats and rugs live. The bathroom, especially inside or close to the shower, tends to stay moist and warm, making it a breading ground for mildew and other nasties.

The second problem is the nature of a bath mat. Bath mats are textured so that we don’t slip and fall inside the shower, but the texture means that there are plenty of nooks and crannies for dirt to hide in.

Three Easy Ways to Wash Your Mat

1. Bath mats are easily cleaned with a pressure washer. The next time you use your pressure washer, take the mat outside and wash it, too.

2. Most bath mats, and almost all rugs, can be easily thrown into the laundry. Wash your bath mat with a bath towel, as the friction between the two will help wash the mat clean.

3. If you’ve been meaning to wash your bath mat but never seem to find the time, just do it at the end of your shower. After you step out of the shower, spray it with your favorite bathroom cleaner, give it a quick scrub, and hang it to dry. It will take you all of two minutes, giving you no real excuse not to clean it.

Just Do It

Don’t become the butt of a Simpsons joke. Clean your bath mat and bathroom rug on a regular basis to improve your family’s bathroom hygiene.

towel cats

I always knew towels had their place in the home, bath-time wouldn’t be the same without them! but little did I realize how much my bath towels would mean to my cats until I relocated to California.

I had contracted with an international pet courier to transport my precious cats from Africa to Los Angeles, and they had mentioned that it would be a good idea to put some small personal item in the cat-carriers along with the cats to remind the kitties of home and to calm them down during the trip.

At first, I was at a loss as to what to put in the carriers but then I had an idea: I would put the cats’ favorite hand towels in with them. I had often seen how much my cats enjoyed lounging around on the gorgeously soft and luxurious bath towels and bath mats I had populated my bathroom with, and I knew these would be the perfect reminders of home to keep them company during their long journey.

Quality organic bath towels and hand towels – no matter whether they were made of Egyptian cotton, combed Egyptian cotton or the luxury cotton / bamboo rayon mix  have always been favorites of mine, and I’d bought enough of them over the years to keep my cats and I in towels for a good long time. (I had also bought enough matching Terry velour, Supima and Kimono bathrobes to populate a small country, but that’s another story!) It was therefore no problem at all to choose a towel or two to put in the carriers with each kitty duo – cats travel overseas in pairs – and I was happy to see that they snuggled down into the towels’ soft and silky material as soon as they were put into the carriers.

Three days – and many thousands of miles – later, the cats and their towels arrived in Los Angeles. Their flight to sunny California had treated them well, and they had luxuriated in their eco friendly towels all the way across the Atlantic.

In China, due to the bad weather, harvest of cotton is delayed, therefore there is a big increase in demand for cotton from textile mills. According to Department of Agriculture, US export increased 54% in upland cotton. China is the biggest buyer with 42%, the most of any country. Fiber prices increased around 61% in the past year.

According to Cotton Advisory Committee the world cotton production is expected to increase 16% to 25.2 million tons this year when compared to last year’s 21.8 million tons.

As the cotton prices are going up, the prices in the finished textile products are also going up. Some of the products affected include clothing, rugs, towels, bath textiles, curtains, and linens. According to a UK based clothing maker, the clothing prices can increase as much as 8% next year. They also added that the companies that have a very good quality line doesn’t want to add polyester-blends to cotton which will decrease the cost but also decreases the quality as well.

A very well known UK based textile chain will be using two million recycled bottles to create three hundred million clothing care labels.

A very well known men’s apparel company has launched its new collection of men’s trousers made of Repreve recycled fiber. Repreve is a yarn made of recycled materials such as plastic bottles and manufacturing waste. Repreve fiber is being used in different industries such as home furnishings, office furnishings, hospitality, apparel, socks, and sewing thread, industrial, automotive, military and medical.

Repreve is a very good example of eco-friendly yarn that becomes widely used in different range of products world wide.

Robe

As an actress, I often have to appear on set in exotic and, sometimes, fragile, costumes, and I have found the ideal way to keep warm or to protect my outfit is to wear a luxury bathrobe over my costume.

After some experimentation, I discovered that luxury bathrobes – especially Waffle bathrobes – are the perfect on-set accessory and are extremely easy to slip on or off between takes, and speed is important when shooting feature films where each minute that is wasted costs thousands of dollars. Waffle robes are also very light, and, as such, I have noticed that they tend not to put too much pressure on, for instance, fancy evening dresses or prosthetic suits. I was recently on location in Palmdale, California – dressed in a dark blue formal dress – waiting for several scenes to be shot in this arid and very dusty semi-desert, and, if it wasn’t for the bathrobes that were on hand to slip on over my costume, the beautiful dress would have been ruined.

Both women’s bathrobes and men’s bathrobes are available – so the actors among us don’t have to feel left out! – and it is also my experience that Bamboo bathrobes are highly recommended on-set wear as they feature a shawl collar that is especially useful for protecting a costume from makeup. There are also kids’ robes available, and these would be perfect for pint-sized child actors. As every little girl and boy I know tends to dirty their clothes the second they put them on, bath robes being available for kids to wear on set and between takes seems like an inspired idea. Terry bathrobes are also a viable option to wear while shooting – perhaps while waiting for set-ups to be completed – and these comfortable unisex Turkish cotton robes come in kimono, velour and shawl styles.

Soft bathrobes are, of course, not worn exclusively by actors and are, in fact, highly recommended for people in all walks of life. They come in different colors, can sport personalized monograms and are, simply, the epitome of stylish living.

First time since 1995 the price of one pound cotton passed 1 dollar. The demand from textile producers outpaced the supply, the global inventories are declining. China which is the leading producer and receiver in the world, may increase its imports due to a 13 percent decline in the cotton production. According to the chairman of Gill & Co. which is a Mumbai based trader, they are expecting a 10 to 15 cents increase in a pound of cotton in the next 15 to 30 days.

Cotton Prices are Doubled in Turkey

Turkey is one of the major towel manufacturers in the market. According to the president of chamber of commerce in turkey, 100% increase in cotton prices affected the textile market very deeply. Towel manufacturers and textile companies are having hard times even in giving prices to their potential customers. According to the president of ATEKS, a Turkish based textile company, white gold (cotton) has a very sharp increase in the world market and the production has to be strengthening in order to get better quality cotton. He also adds that the increase in cotton prices passed the increase in gold prices throughout the world.
